Dance Lecturer – Theater, Dance & Performance Studies Department

The Department of Theater, Dance and Performance Studies (TDPS) at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications from qualified temporary instructors to teach a range of practice based dance courses, in case of need. We welcome experienced dance educators who teach in a broad range of dance genres that are in dialogue with a modern/contemporary dance framework. Such forms can include folk dance, hip hop, African Diaspora traditions, somatic practices, ballet, jazz, etc. Potential courses include: Beginning through Advanced Modern Dance Technique; Sources of Movement; Movement Improvisation; Choreography: Solo/Duet, or Group Forms; and Directing the Berkeley Dance Project, which includes setting choreography on students. Appointments may begin in August 2016, and the applicant pool will remain in place for one calendar year. It is expected that instructors will reside in the Bay Area during the term of employment.
