Carnaval Choreographer

MCCLA is requesting proposals from dynamic, energetic dancers to teach the dance choreography to its 2016 Carnaval Continget. Proposals (dance/music) must relate to Carnaval SF’s 2016 “VIVA LA MADRE TIERRA.” MCCLA’s selected theme will guide contingent’s dance, music, costumes, and allegoric float.

Job: Choreographer(s) will teach a 1 hr. Carnaval dance class beginning January 30, 2016, every Saturday, and a 1.5 hr. Carvanal choreography class beginning March 5, 2015. In April there will be 2 classes a week (Mondays and Saturdays) until May 28th. Classes will include men/women dancers of all ages (10+) and skill levels. Choreographer will dance and direct dancers & contingent on Carnaval Day, and participate at 2 carnaval-based events (or fundraiser). Choreographer(s) will work closely with MCCLA and the Carnaval committee and contingent in the planning and execution of the selected theme, music, costume selection, and overall contingent recruitment, coordination and promotion.

Requirements: 1) Artistic Resume / Carnaval Experience; 2) Proposed theme (and title), music category (Caribbean, Traditioanl, Contemporary, Folkloric, etc); 3) Elements / Resources necessary to accomplish your proposed project; 4) Proven skills & experience for proposed project & references; 6) References & sample (photo, etc) of similar work performed.
