DONNA STERNBERG & DANCERS presents “What’s Next?” a mash up of dance, spoken word and music.
Along with renowned Los Angeles poet Suzanne Lummis and San Francisco based musician Colm Ó Riain, the artists explore the terrain of place and displacement, broken rules and love in a performance that marries the witty, poignant poetry of Ms. Lummis, the nuanced, multicultural music of Mr. Ó Riain and the inventive movement of DS&D. In addition the program includes two poems by Sri Lankan-born poet Pireeni Sundaralingam accompanied by Mr. Ó Rianin’s music. Running the gamut from dark humor to intellectual pondering to heart stopping longing, each art form expresses itself uniquely and in tandem with each other, creating a performance of tantalizing texture and emotion. The program provides a unique opportunity to explore how working across different art forms may change both individual artists as well as audience members at a deep cognitive level.
