MCCLA will host “Reflections,” a performance featuring the Jaranón y Bochinche Afro-Peruvian Dance and Music Company, a local group developed out of the Tradición Peruana Cultural Center (TPCC) showcasing traditional Afro-Peruvian culture. This event highlights traditional Afro-Peruvian dance, music, and songs from the coastal and mountainous regions of Peru, with choreography and musical arrangements provided by Juan de Dios Soto and his sisters Rocio and Lydia Soto. Critics revere Lydia Soto as “the queen” of Afro-Peruvian dance.
