L.A. Contemporary Dance Offers Creative Process Workshops

Dancer / Choreographer workshop:

Warm-up with company members
Practice of techniques and exercises utilized in the creative process for a particular choreographer / piece
Learn and perform a section of choreography from LACDC’s upcoming repertory concert “4 Seasons”, and discuss development of piece with dancers & choreographer.

Sunday, Sept. 20 – Process and Choreography by Laurel Tentindo;
Sunday, Oct. 4 – Process and Choreography by Becca Lemme

Composer / Musician workshop:

Conversation with LACDC’s resident composer, Eric Mason, about collaboration and his approach to re-imagining Vivaldi’s classical score of “Four Seasons.”

Experimentation with instrumentation including Moog Synthesizer, Cello / Electric Cello, Keyboard and other creative tools
A first listen to the score in development and discussion of working process of creating music for dance

Attendees are also invited to observe rehearsal from 6:30 – 7pm following the workshops.
