In this workshop, Amelia leads participants through her autobiographical artistic practice using the Tamalpa Life/Art Process®, dramatic play, and creative dance.
Movement play and story-telling reign in this workshop exploring the weight and sensations of moving with a manta. Why a manta? A manta or blanket is likely one of the first items that clothe us after our mother’s womb. A portal into our childhood narratives, the manta serves as both prop and container for our creative and emotional exploration. Participants will be introduced to the Tamalpa Life/Art Process®, a movement-based expressive arts approach that integrates movement & dance, drawing, performance techniques and therapeutic practices. In a safe and supportive environment, we will restore and center our bodies and use our movement, voices and imaginations to soar into the liminal state of creativity and come back again to reap the fruits of body knowledge. Using a scoring process, we will have the opportunity to perform for each other with our mantas and witness our newfound wisdom.
