Posted June 02, Lake Macquarie councillors have been urged not to make a connection between a proposed brothel at Toronto West with street prostitution, which has caused problems in nearby Islington. During their address to council, two residents said the brothel would lead to a spike in crime and anti-social behaviour.
Brothel spokesman Glenn Ziernek stressed the brothel would be a legal operation and any attempt to link it to illegal brothels or street prostitution in Islington was tenuous and unfounded. Councillors have deferred making a decision until after a site inspection next week and have asked council's staff for more information.
